Noah's Ark
our trip to:
Noah's Ark
The day was Tuesday, July 24. The weather was hot. Very hot.
I was supposed to wake up at 8:30 in the A.M. so that Chris Walker could pick me up at
8:45. Being the late riser that I am, I woke up at 9:30. However, this proved no major
setback, and Chris simply picked up the Terry (who also was late waking up), and then me.
We left Monona at about 10:00 for Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells. Why did we choose this
particular day to attend the waterpark? 'Twas for Alex Kugle's birthday party. Alex
works with the Terry at the Taco, hence, our attendance was acceptable.
We arrived at the aforementioned waterpark at about 11:00
(give or take a few minutes). After we walked in, we immediately spotted the rest of the
group. They were Alex, Brandon Marks, Bobby Kau, Peter Brockman, Matt Pautz, Nick Heckman,
Zach Witt, Jennie Hinrichs, Jenna Schultz, Megan Doyle, and a whole bunch of others who I
can't remember. (after all, it was four days ago) Anyway, shortly after our
arrival, the popular folk put as much distance between themselves and us as possible, and
Chris, terry, and I were left on our own.
But regardless, we still had plenty o' fun. Our first visit
was to a wave pool titled "The Big Kahuna." I almost drowned a couple times. It was
quite nifty. After that, we journeyed to the "Adventure River." I found the name to be
slightly misleading, but the actual river was fun. It gave me a chance to relax and dry
off, so as to make my next trip into water extra cold. Did I mention it was very hot out?
Anyway, we proceeded to discover that it was shortly after noon o'clock, so we went to
Chris's van to eat and drink. I ate 9 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and drank Mello Yello.
Now, let me tell you something: It is not a good idea to eat nine Reese's Peanut Butter
Cups and then go back into water. But then again, I'm not the brightest knife in the
basket.
After our makeshift lunch, we went back into the park, where
we discovered the popular group. We latched on and followed along immediately. We went
through an obstacle course of sorts, entitled "The Lillypads." I was proud of myself
because I didn't fall into the water, despite Chris's futile efforts to knock me in.
Following the lillypads, we went back to the wave pool. There I stayed in the deep end
("deep" meaning 6 feet). The entire time, all I thought about during my near-drownings
were scenes from Titanic and The Perfect Storm. After I escaped from the
wave pool, I met up with Chris and the Terry, only to discover that the popular kids had
managed to shake us off yet again. So our outcast group of three went back to the
adventure river, after which we decided to leave. However, we did come up with a very fun
last-minute idea.
Following Terry's suggestion, we went to the "Flash Flood" to
see how long the line was. Unfortunately, the line was too long. However, there was much
fun to be had simply from standing on the bridge. As the ride comes down into the water, it
sprays water with amazing velocity onto the poor souls on the bridge. It almost knocked
off the Terry's glasses.
We left after that. It was about 3:45. All in all, I had an
extremely fun day. The only bad things that happened were: 1) My shoulders and face
getting extremely sunburned. (It still hurts today) 2) The bottoms of my feet were
scalded by the EXTREMELY hot pavement, and 3) the repeated ditching of us by the popular
group. But Noah's Ark is still a very cool place to go for fun. It costs too much money,
but whatever, it was still cool. And fun. I thank Chris for actually inviting me to go
with him. Until next time, this is Bert.
