Cottage Grove Festival
Cottage Grove Festival
Friday:
This was the first day that I made it out there. The festival
started on Thursday, but due to an unfortunate event, I didn't feel like going. But Matt
#1 told me that they had wristbands for 12 bucks to buy and go on tons of rides. I decided
that I wanted to do this, so we went. Well, when we got there, it turned out that the
wristband stuff was just Thursday and (according to some people) Sunday. But, anyway,
Matt #1 and I arrived at the festival a little after 5:00 to meet Bark and his friend, Matt
#2. When we got there, we couldn't find Bark and Matt #2, so we walked around for a long
time. I mean, like, for about an hour. We ran into absolutely no one we knew, and it
was VERY boring. At about 6:00, we finally found Bark and Matt #2, so we hung out with
them for about 2 hours. Later, a little after 8:00, we found Joelle. So, for the rest
of the night, the five of us hung out and walked around. If not for the fact that there
were five of us, it would have been the most boring night of my life.
Saturday:
Well, this day was interesting because I didn't plan on going
at all. It's kinda interesting how it happened. I was feeling bored, so I called Tear-E
to see if he wanted to come over and make pages for this site and such and such. He said
he would, but he had to walk, so he'd be over in about 25 - 30 minutes. Well, about
15 minutes later, there's a knock at the door. It's Al, and he has Matt #1 and Tear-E
with him. They wanted me to go to the festival with them, and so I said "what the heck?"
and since I was super bored, I decided to go. Well, on the way there, we stopped to pick
up Rob, who had just come back from Green Bay. So we get to Rob's house, and it turns
out that he has his little brother, Dylan, with him. But they still decided to go. So,
Al, Matt #1, Tear-E, Rob, Dylan, and I went to the festival. Once there, we saw more
people than before. And many interesting things happened.
First, we saw Joelle again, which was fun. Second, we saw
Terry Z., who then became a member of our posse for the day. Third, I went on the
Tilt-A-Whirl a bunch of times in a row and got super sick. Fourth, Tear-E and Rob did
karaoke. (In between a bunch of old drunks singing country songs, they go up there and
do Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back," during which Tear-E became a local celebrity and Rob
almost got tackled by a fireman.) Fifth, some 18-year-old girl let me look down her pants.
Anyway, we then spent most of the night hanging out and talking to folks. At about 5:00,
I left to meet up with Fran cuz we were gonna go see I Voted For Kodos (an awesome band)
downtown. But their website was wrong or something, and we couldn't find the show. So,
we went out to the festival. When we got there, Matt #1 had left. :-( Anyway, Fran,
Al, Tear-E, Rob, Dylan, and I still hung out and had some fun. Now, as if that wasn't
enough, at about 10:30 Rob, Dylan, Tear-E, and I went back to Rob's place. We all
watched this TV special about circus sideshows. It was both scary and hilarious. I left
at 12:00 to walk home, but from what I hear, Tear-E and Rob played football on Sega
Dreamcast until about 8:00, when Tear-E walked home.
Sunday:
Well, this was the third day of going to the festival, and
the sole purpose of this trip was to meet girls. I went with Joe and Chris. First, we
went to Joe's brother's house and watched "Menace II Society" which was a good movie.
Then, at about 6:30, we decided to go out and find girls. First, we went to the mall,
but most of it was closed (we'd forgotten that it was sunday), so we decided to go to the
festival. Well, we walked around for a bit, saw Al and Erin, and then the three of us
saw three girls. Now, two of them weren't that great (one of them was REALLY not that
great), but one was f***in' HOT. So, being the incredibly stupid loser that I am, I went
up to her and asked her out. Naturally, she said no. But, looking back, the fact that I
asked is REALLY damn funny. I didn't even know her name when I did it. Hahahaha.
Anyway, later we watched the fireworks. They were interesting because there was also a
thunderstorm going on, so the fireworks were mixed with lightning, which was fun to
watch. So, after the fireworks, we were on our way to leave, when we had an "altercation"
with Fat Sean Serfort, Chris Thornell, and some of their dumb friends. They started
talking bad stuff to us, and if not for the large crowd of people (plenty of them cops),
there would've been a large brawl. But, anyway, that's it for this year's Cottage Grove
festival. Maybe I'll go next year.
